February
19, 2005 - Love-At-First-Walk This was the first semi-annual 4-H
sponsored walk in Emmett! Despite the snow and cold, I'd say we
did pretty well. About 50 people came out with their dogs to walk
the 2 miles, make new friends and raise money for the shelter!
Look for the 2nd one sometime this September! At right: Pongo
having a drink after the long walk!
October 9, 2004--Inaugural Adoption Show at our new(!) permanent location
Inaugural Adoption Show at our new permanent location -- After much work by all members we had our first Saturday Adoption Show at our new, permanent location at 1526 N. Washington, Emmett. A good time was had by all. We also had a successful fund-raiser selling Krispy Kreme donuts. We will be doing this again, so please check the web page often to future dates and times.
August 2004--We are now the Pet Adoption League
We are now the Pet Adoption league -- We are now officially Doing Business As (DBA) the Pet Adoption League of Gem County.
June 19th, 2004--Cherry Festival Float
Cherry Festival Float -- Snoopy joined us for the day as many volunteers and animals rode and walked in the annual Cherry Festival Parade. The 70's theme was a lot of fun and a family in the crowd even recognized one of the dogs as being their own lost pet! Are we good, or what?
June 24th, 2002--Foster Dog becomes a Police Dog
Lewiston gains top-notch narcotics dog -- Pound Animal League has a new officer in Lewiston, Idaho's department of corrections. Officer Renee Behrens has teamed up with "DOC" (stands for Department Of Corrections) formerly Zen, a yellow lab mix in PAL's foster care. Doc was tested by officer Perez who gave DOC his highest recommendation. "The dog is good enough that if you do not take him, I will find another placement for him" stated Perez.
June 19th, 2002--PAL Float Rides Through Town
PAL Women face hot concrete and large dinosaur -- The hot weather and low budget couldn't stop the PAL women from gracing the Cherry Festival's annual parade. With one gigantic paper-mache dinosaur and five sweaty, yet poised ladies, we proudly showed the world that Pound Animal League can Spay or Neuter Anything! Great job everyone!!
January 5th, 2002--Humane Society Awards PAL Digital Camera
Digital Camera Awarded -- The Humane Society awarded the Pound Animal League a $150 Target gift certificate for the purchase of a digital camera. Previously, volunteers donated thier cameras to take pictures of the adoptable dogs and cats. We are very grateful for the ability to take our own pictures!
October 13, 2001--PAL walks the See Spot Walk!
See Spot, See P.A.L -- The Pound Animal League joined over 1,000 other walkers in the Humane Society's Annual Dog walk in Fort Boise Park. Warm weather and an amazing turn-out left all the dogs and humans in good spirits.
The day was awesome for fund raising, and we had many inquires about our dogs. Many people didn't even realize we existed! It was a very good day to put on sneakers and walk a dog! Mike, Chris, Bill, and Sonie show off the dogs and our booth at our first ever Spot Walk!
September 22, 2001--Four Dogs Adopted at D&B
One of the best shows -- This show was one of the best this summer with four dogs being adopted, two who were just taken from the pound that morning. The previous shows of the summer were not nearly as successful. We hope that the trend in adoptions continue.
September 9, 2001--PAL Website Goes Live!
http://www.emmett-pal.org goes live for the first time ever, marking a new technology age for the group. The kickoff was unceremoniously heralded at 12pm that Saturday morning by two members still in pajamas from working on it the night before. The Webmaster was seen during this time celebrating in his own way by patting the dog firmly on the head and "going to grab a beer." All in all, the day was a success.
September 3, 2001--Longtime Members Honored
Roy and Jean Wenig -- A husband and wife team of animal activists received recognition for their long-standing effort and volunteer spirit from the Emmett Pound Animal League. A Plaque commemorating work well-done was awarded by PAL at the Swing Scene restaurant in Emmett, Idaho.
